To follow or not to follow?

Certain cultures would call for a word of caution in matters regarding the heart. And yet growing up, one would hear the cliche phrase (in Disney movies especially) to follow one's heart. Yet again from history, we know that when one follows their heart they are often met with tragedy. Now, the heart can take many contexts such as feeling or instinct; you be the judge.

Let us take for an instance the heart in the context of feelings. As we all know, feelings can be a tricky thing. The thing is... Can we follow the heart when it is in this context?

Yves St. Laurent once said "The most beautiful makeup for women is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy."

Doesn't passion comes when one follows the feelings in their heart? Take for example the feeling of anger. It is supposed to bring destruction. But think about it from another angle. If other human beings did not feel anger due to the injustice done to their own kind, would there be any improvement in the life of the ones who are fallen? Would there be any human rights?

Miracle often follow passion. Without a doubt, passion follows the heart. So, what should I do? Follow the heart...or not?

I will be happy with logic and reasoning for now. Paramore's song "That's What You Get" will serve as a warning for me to follow the tricky heart.
